Hello, friends of Sidecar For Pigs Peace!

You'll notice some changes to our newsletter format. The Table of Contents can get you to your favorite section quickly, and at the end of each newsletter you'll find a list items that are currently on sale, so you can quickly check for deals you can't pass up.

Of course, the most exciting part of our newsletter is the New Products announcements. So without further ado…

New from Purely Decadent

I may never eat another vegan ice cream now that I've tried the creamiest Dulce de Leche evah, but I'm hearing good things about their Key Lime Pie, Blueberry Cheesecake and Belgian Chocolate, too! Exciting options in soy desserts are not the only new items from Purely Decadent. The soy magicians have turned their powers on coconuts, and we now have 2 flavors of their soy-free Coconut Yogurt and Coconut Milk ice cream!

Glenny's Marshmallow Treats

Made with brown rice and brown rice syrup, and available in 3 flavors, these healthier versions of chewy rice treats taste of nostalgia and yumminess.

Raw Makery

A dedicated raw brand from Nevada brings addictive flavors to the shelf. I'm a big fan of the Rye Sticks, but the Apple Yum Cookies are a close second. There are 6 Raw Makery items for you to try.

• Rudi's Organic Bagels - finally, bagels without honey or high fructose corn syrup!
• Strawberry Lemon Love flavor from the healthiest frozen dessert makers, Coconut Bliss.
• Andean Dreams quinoa-based, gluten-free cookies.
• Yves Heart's Desire, chicken-style strips using the soy/wheat protein blend, Gardein.
• Wildwood high-protein tofu in two sizes, the cutie 10-oz block, and a 30-oz family size in a resealable vacuum-pack bag. Wildwood has also brought us firm, water-packed *sprouted* tofu!
• Tofutti cream cheese in cheddar flavor, with olive coming soon.

In the not-exactly-new-but-new-to-Sidecar's-shelves category, we've brought in some standards so you can do more of your shopping with is. Now you can find Follow Your Heart's vegan Caesar dressing, prepared seitan (from Westsoy, formerly White Wave), Yves Canadian Bacon, Lotus Foods rice, single-serve Vitasoy soymilks, Health is Wealth's buffalo wings, and finally back on the shelf, Road's End Chreese dip in mild and spicy. We also now stock vegan- and earth-friendly Bon Ami cleanser.

News from the World of Food

Rising food prices is no longer news, although the increases continue. Sidecar for Pigs Peace still has better prices than local stores on many common items - that's one advantage of being a non-profit. Please know that we are doing what we can, including lowering prices on some items wherever possible, and passing on sales as they come available to us. Check out our new lower prices on Sheese, Stonewall's Jerquee, and Primal Strips!

Here's a little tip from inside the grocery world: many times, if a brand is planning a price increase, the items will be offered on sale, first. When they go off sale they have a shiny new higher price. So take advantage of sales when you see them - the item may be a lot more expensive after the sale ends.

Have you been looking for Gardenburger products, and finding them scarce? Missing your Boca burgers? Both companies have reported significant production interruptions, and expect to be out of stock for an unknown length of time. But, your grill won't be lonely as Amy's Bistro Burgers, Sunshine Burgers, and Chez Gourmet Patties are still on our freezer shelves, and all are gluten-free. We still have a few GardenVegans in stock, and I'll be sure to get more Gardenburger products back in as soon as I see them in distribution again.

Helping Sidecar Thrive

Manufacturer's coupons - the ones you find in magazines and coupon books that are specific to a brand/item - can be used here, and are actually a fundraiser for us! You know that fine print on the back of a coupon that says retailers get the cost of the coupon back, plus 8 cents for handling? A 50-cent deal for you turns into 58 cents for us. And those 8 cents each add up quickly. So go ahead! Be a coupon-clipper, and help Sidecar become the successful vegan resource Seattle needs.
