Florence Petheram will be promoting her new book, Word: A Real Dog Locked in a Shelter Cage for Eight Years Until..., at Sidecar for Pig's Peace in the U District. The event will be held May 13, from 11 am until 2 pm. There will be opportunities for questions and book signings.

Word was a real dog, incarcerated at Animal Control for 8 years before finally being released to Pigs Peace Sanctuary. The book is a thrilling and moving children's story ideal for children ages 9 through 12 and will appeal to animal lovers of any age. Proceeds from book sales will go to Pigs Peace Sanctuary.

Judy will be here to talk about Word's real life at the Sanctuary.
